Lessons of Life: Food Poisoning 101

I’m sure many of you guys are wondering why there was a lack of postage today. After a long thanksgiving break, I was definitely excited to blog…but then I woke up this morning with possibly the worst stomach ache that I have ever had in my life. This stomach ache was followed by a ton of horrible food poisoning like symptoms: vomit, nausea, diarrhea, a mild fever.

It wasn’t fun, and I am sure that some of you guys have experienced similar things in life. This time, I feel partially responsible for my own illness. My friends and I, two days ago, went to eat at a restaurant that served this pork/oyster concoction. At the time, it definitely felt delicious. However, I knew that the oysters looked dangerous and shady–they looked teeming with unnatural bacteria and the things of the like.

Motivated by “food” greed (and not even hunger cause I wasn’t hungry), I devoured the oysters with all my friends. 24 hours later (which is about how long it takes for this type of food poisoning to kick in), I am rolling around in anguish and pain.

I found some useful information, however, on food poisoning and thought I would share this article with you guys for anytime in the future where it might happen to you. I am still pretty nauseous, but after going in and out of consciousness all day (and drinking tons of water), I think I’ll survive the night, I hope. One thing’s for sure: no more shady oysters for me. As a matter of fact, I might have to get rid of them from my diet completely. It’s not worth it!

Hope you guys had a wonderful thanksgiving: http://www.foodborneillness.com/norovirus_food_poisoning/
